NEWS!

Sweet as a Nut featured in the Channel Islands based newspaper 'Baliwick Express' on the 11th October 2022. Below is the article.

When student Ollie Boletta first set up his sweet-selling business aged just 14, his aim was to earn some pocket money, having struggled to find a Saturday job.

Today, 'Sweet as a Nut' has grown significantly - and he has even just scored a scrum-ptious deal with Jersey's key rugby team.

Express caught up with him...

Ollie, who is currently in Year 11 and studying towards his GCSEs at Victoria College, runs his sweets delivery service, 'Sweet as a Nut', from his bedroom in his parents' house.

His business has gone from strength to strength, with him sometimes receiving up to 90 orders in one weekend.

Ollie has just also just finalised a deal with The Jersey Rugby Club to sponsor a player for the new season.

Speaking to Express about the growing venture, Ollie put the success of his business down to his "extensive market research" and his ability to source a wide variety of sweets that aren't available elsewhere in Jersey.

He also thinks that his young customers appreciate his low prices and how it is "easy to order online or via Instagram or Facebook".

He is particularly proud of how he manages to juggle running his business, school work, and his teenage social life.

However, he admitted that sometimes he is reluctant to get up and package sweets when orders come in late on a Saturday night want he just wants to "chill out"!

As an avid sports fan himself, Ollie is delighted to have the opportunity to sponsor a Jersey RFC player this season, as well as being able to promote his business locally.

He said: "I love going up to watch the rugby anyway, so when the opportunity to sponsor one of the players came I jumped at the chance!

"I've already been up to watch a few matches since finalising the sponsorship and it's a great feeling to be involved."

Jersey RFC Head Coach, Myles Landick added: "Jersey RFC welcomes sponsors from a range of backgrounds and ages.

"Ollie is among our youngest backers, and we're very pleased that he's chosen to invest in a local sporting organisation as a way of promoting his business."

Ollie is planning on staying at Victoria College for his A levels and then isn't sure whether he wants to go to university or not.

If he does, he thinks he would like to study either languages or maths. If he decides not to go to university, he wants to get straight into the business world.

As for 'Sweet as a Nut', Ollie hopes to be able to expand his business outside of Jersey, with his sights set on the London area.
